Mission: Prelude: Getting The Team Together
Location: Colonel’s Office
Timeline: MD 10 - 1030 Hours

Colonel Refelian sipped on his latest cup of coffee of the morning. He lost count after cup number 5. He hated the sitting around and waiting, being on a small science station was very restricting after being on the marine base he was previously assigned to. The door chime going off let the thought of his previous assignment slip from his mind.

“Come.” He called setting the cup down.

Tiam walked into the office and looked around. He looked at Refelian and with a smile said, "You wanted to see me boss?"

For some reason the word made Tiam's skin crawl. Maybe because he had never actually worked for anyone or for that matter, never actually worked what could be a true job in his life.

“Take a seat, Mr Meer.” Refelian said gesturing to the empty seat in front of his desk. “I see you have a some what, how shall I put this, colourful record. Most of it not on the right side of the law.”

"Well, I do have a bit of a curious streak and sense of adventure", Tiam replied. "Sometimes those have gotten the better of me."

“Which worries me about you being placed here? I’m guessing it was a ‘work for us or go to prison’ deal?” The Colonel asked as he folded his arms.

"Something like that", Tiam said. "but in all fairness, I can't help it if Starfleet has weak firewalls. They should have given me a reward for showing them all their weaknesses."

“Instead they gave you to me...” Refelian replied as he began to rub his beard. He sighed before continuing, “So, what can you do? Why would you be an asset to this team rather than a burden?”

"Well, I am a damn good pilot of small craft if I do say so myself", Tiam answered. "Anything the size of a Defiant class, I can make do some tricks. But, that's not my real strong suit. If you need a system hacked, I'm your man. I would have breached the last firewall at Starfleet Command if there hadn't been a power glitch."

Harry raised an eye brow, “I think Lieutenant Collins would probably have a use for you and your skills. Perhaps you should swing by when you have a free moment and have a chat with him.” He paused for a moment. “So, you brought us a Ju’Day class ship then?”

"Unfortunately", Tiam said. "That thing has seen better days, much better days. They stopped making that model thirty years ago. We'll be lucky to find parts."

The colonel sighed, “At least we’ll be inconspicuous in it. I wasn’t excepting a state of the art vessel...” He trailed off. “At least you made it here in one piece, that’s an encouraging sign.”

"Well, I wouldn't suggest taking her into heavy combat", Tiam said. "Or any combat for that matter, unless we can get her beefed up. Something tells me we won't have much time to do that before the mission. Maybe we should make stealing a newer ship the first mission."

“Ship to ship combat isn’t in our mandate but we may come under fire. Perhaps we’ll need to start looking at upgrading her systems in the weeks to come. I don’t expect her to hold her own in combat but keep us alive is a must.” The Colonel said as he rubbed his beard as his mind wandered off to who to contact about getting the ship some upgrades. After a few moments, his attention snapped back into the room. “Alright then, if there’s nothing else, you’re dismissed.”

Tiam smiled, glad there hadn't been more probing into his history, and said, "I'm good. talk to you later."

With that, he gave a friendly wave and scooted out the door.
