Mission: Prelude: Getting The Team Together
Location: Holodeck, Deck 13
Timeline: MD07 - 1600 Hours

The start of a new assignment was always the same. Meet the new CO, try and catch the XO then what followed was medicals and assessments for clearance. All the standard stuff she had happily forgotten.

Ky had heard that the XO of the team was not a marine. This did not worry or phase her as she had heard it was a team of many specialities from many disciplines.

She had learnt that this Commander Carro was in the holodeck and she wanted to say hello and put a face to the name. If the doors didn't open she would leave her be, in the privacy of her program, otherwise she would enter and give the woman a quick introduction and leave her be.

As she entered she was hit by a blast of cold that nearly knocked her over. It was a small looking town and she passed a signage saying 'Anchor Point Alaska'.

Sal looked up. She'd forgotten to lock the door but honestly she hadn't thought she'd be disturbed. All bundled up in a jacket, hat and gloves she observed that the newcomer was only in some kind of uniform for normal station work. "You might want to bring a jacket. It's March in Alaska," Sal said with a bit of a smile on her face.

Ky let out a weak smile as another gust of wind hit her. She hated being cold, especially when she wasn't expecting it. She moved towards the arch and asked the program to supply her with a jacket and gloves. Once they materialised on her she started to warm up a little more. "Sorry ma'am, wasn't expecting a snow storm in holodeck." she exaggerated.

"Computer, pause program," Sal said effectively stopping the snow and the cold wind along the beach that she'd been walking. "It clears my head," she explained. "What can I do for you?"

"Sorry ma'am. I don't meant to intrude on your private time. I am Captain Vo, a member of your team and I was just coming to introduce myself. Now that I have done so I can leave you to your..." she looked around again at all the white that would envelop her. "white wilderness."

"Computer, change the program to spring." Then she addressed Ky again. "It might still be a litlte chilly but at least you won't have the snow flying." And sure enough the snow cleared and little leaves could be seen sprouting from the trees on the bank. Green grass was making it's way up and the sun was shining down on them, albeit from an angle.

"A lot warmer Commander, thank you." Ky nodded as a further thank you. "Is this somewhere that means a lot to you?" She asked as she noticed Carro look around, she looked comfortable here.

"It's where I was raised," Sal admitted. "Holds some sentimental value I suppose, but mostly it's the place I come to clear my head and for some reason the cold air helps with that as well."

"Definitely cleared my head." Ky admitted. "It seems nice though, little cold for my tastes but it seems peaceful. I wish I remembered where I came from, be nice to call somewhere home... or at the very least have a memory of it."

"I'm sorry to hear that. Alaska probably wasn't the best place to grow up but I count myself lucky that it offered a lot of unique opportunities. I suppose what matters now though is where you make your life, not where you come from."

Ky shrugged. "I've come to accept my lack of memory, although it comes back to me in bits." she admitted. "I suppose you are right though. My new life is with this new team and I hope we gel together as good as my last."

"I'm sure we will," Sal gave a small smile. "Come on, I'll find you a drink."

"Sounds good to me ma'am." Ky replied with a smile.
